Disseminating Textile Conservation Knowledge
Textile Training
Collections Care Training Day for Girlguiding Association
In January we had the pleasure of hosting representatives of the Girlguiding Association for bespoke training on the care and preservation of their textile collection. During the day we discussed agents of deterioration, IPM, collections maintenance and demonstrated some packing and handling techniques, tailoring advice to suit the needs for their collection.
Examples from the Girlguiding Association archive were brought along and discussed, to directly apply knowledge learnt on the day, with practical sessions to build confidence.
“The focus on tools and techniques with the demonstrations was especially valuable. The team were professional, friendly and genuinely welcoming” Archivist Girlguiding Assc.
Conservation Advocates
Contributing to the Profession
The studio actively works within the industry to promote and advocate for both textiles and working in private practice, developing and maintaining good professional connections within and across specialisms.
In October ‘25 we presented at the Icon Private Practice Group Symposium, discussing private practitioners working in conservation. In April ‘26 we presented at the Icon Textile Group Forum on the succession of The Landi Company and the challenges and advantages of working in both private practice and with textiles.
More information on our involvement can be found on our website below!
